Proper Podiatry Care
Medical care is an integral part of resolving your foot problems and at Newtown Foot & Ankle Specialists, we can provide you with the resolutions you need. We are committed to treating the problems of our patients rather than simply relying on what we observe on an x-ray. Finding the proper medical care and treatment is essential to healing and literally getting back on your feet.
The first step in getting our patients' medical care is properly diagnosing the issue. We utilize various methods, including the following:
- Computed tomography – Used to help diagnose and treat various foot and ankle issues. It is a type of X-ray device that uses cross-sectional images of the given part of the body.
- X-rays – Used to determine whether a bone is fractured or damaged as a result of infection, arthritis, or any other disease.
- MRI – Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is diagnostic equipment for various health conditions and problems, such as fractures, arthritis, tumors, and tendon injuries.
- Ultrasound – An effective tool for the diagnosis of a wide range of foot and ankle problems. In a similar way to a radar, it uses sound waves on the body that target an area and bounce back to a recording device.
Our podiatrists often use foot and ankle orthotics as a form of care for our patients. These are devices that get inserted into a shoe. They serve to correct abnormal or irregular walking patterns. In some cases, they are referred to as arch supports.
Orthotics come in various types, including, rigid, soft, semi-rigid, and accommodative devices.
