Treating Inflammation of the Achilles Tendon
Achilles tendonitis is a condition which can cause degeneration and inflammation to the Achilles tendon. This condition can be caused by a wide range of factors, from over-pronation to inadequate stretching before heavily exercising. Improper shoe selection can also lead to Achilles tendonitis. There are many types of treatment options available to treat this condition, depending on the severity of your symptoms. For example, we recommend a stretching program for athletes before exercising, as well as a special orthotic device.
Peroneal Tendon & Xanthomas Treatment
The peroneal tendon is responsible for supporting two of your foot muscles along your calves. When this tendon is damaged, it can affect your ability to move your calf or roll your foot and ankle. Injury to this tendon can be caused by sports activities, as well as severe trauma, such as an accident.
Xanthomas are small lumps or deposits in the Achilles tendon which can be caused by high levels of cholesterol. Treatment for this type of problem will likely involve addressing your high cholesterol levels, but may also include a biopsy of the lesion on your foot. Our Newtown foot doctor tries to recommends the least-invasive treatment method possible, but in some severe cases, surgery may be necessary.
